Chards can be kept 4-5 days in the refrigerator. In order to clean them, you must first cut the final part of the tuft, stem one leaf at a time, and then soak them in cold water. After a few minutes, rinse them under running water. You can cook them in warm water, or cut the ribs and cook them in a pan with a little oil.
